When Will Tiger Woods be Back in 2021
Tiger Woods recently announced he was going to visit New York for a book-signing event. The book mainly recounts his victorious 1997 Masters. However, there has been a lot of doubt about his ability to play at this year’s Masters. Read on to find out what RunRex has learned about his chances of playing this year.
Woods Has Back Problems
Multiple sources have reported that Woods is unable to participate in competitive golf because of back spasms. When Tiger Woods’ agent was emailed about the condition of his back and the chances of him playing this year, there was initially no reply. However, a source close to Wood’s home said that it would come as a surprise to him if Tiger Woods played golf this year.
Another source claims to have seen woods in recent days and that he was not looking great. Although the source would like Woods to come back, he does not look like he is ready to play competitively. The source added that all he had seen Woods do in recent days is putt.
Woods was recently a no-show at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. His website claimed that he was still undergoing rest and rehabilitation for his back problems. He has won at that particular tournament eight times. The website added that he did not have a timetable for when he would be back in competitive golf. If Woods misses the Masters, it would be the second time he has done so consecutively. It would also be the third time he has missed the Masters since 2014.
In the 2015-2016 season of the PGA Tour, Woods was not able to play because he was recovering from two back surgeries. The surgeries were performed in an attempt to alleviate nerve pain that he was experiencing. In 2016, he was back in the game. He participated in the Hero World Challenge in December of that year. However, he only managed to finish two spots from the last place in a group of 17 players.
In 2017, Woods has only competed in the Farmers Insurance open, which took place at Torrey Pines. However, he did not make the cut. A short while later, he went to Dubai shot 77 in his opening round but withdrew the next day.
After that, he pulled out of his next pair of starts. Besides that, he canceled a press conference, which was scheduled to be held at Riviera, where he was the tournament host. The event was being run by his foundation.
Rory had lunch with Woods a short while back and said that Tiger Woods appeared to be in good spirits. However, when he was asked about the chances of Woods being back for the Masters, he hesitated to answer. He said he could only give a definitive answer in the upcoming weeks. He only said that he had observed Woods was in a good place mentally.
Rory said that he knew Woods had struggled with his body in recent years. He said that it was unfortunate that Wood’s body would not let him do what he wanted to do. However, he said he knew Woods was working hard to fix things. However, he also added that it might take time for Woods’ body to heal. Tiger Woods has won the Master four times. What His Agent Has to Say about Woods
Although nobody knows if Woods will pay at the Masters, his agent has made it clear that Woods has not ruled out participating in the event. His agent claimed that all reports claiming Woods were not participating in the Masters were false.
However, multiple sources claim that Woods has not played or practiced at all since he withdrew from the Dubai Desert Classic. Woods’ agent said anyone citing anonymous sources was lying. According to him, it was comical for any reporter to claim to know anything about Woods when nobody from Tiger’s circle had spoken. The agent concluded that there had not been a decision either way. Woods’ agent said that he had gotten treatment and that he was still a work in progress.
What Woods Has to Say
When Woods was asked, he said that he is trying everything to make it the Augusta National. He said that the Major is special to him since it is the first one he ever took part in back in 1995. Woods made the comments during a book signing held in New York. He said that his mind was focused but added that he needed to be ready physically too. He also added that he had not been able to practice as he used to. He mentioned that he had kids, who were now a priority in his life.
After the press conference, Woods took the opportunity to get into a putting contest against Strahan. While it is hard to draw conclusions based on a putting contest, Woods does look great. Some even said that he looked better than they expected. It would seem that there is hope for Tiger in 2017 after all.
