Top 25 Florida Golf Courses in 2021

According to statistics, some of Florida’s golf courses have made it to the list of top 50 golf clubs in the United States. Here are some of the best golf courses in the state according to the experts at RunRex.  

World Woods (Pine Barrens)

The course gets its name from the many pine trees that line it. It was sculpted from an expansive pine forest. The course is renowned for its surprising change in elevation. If you want a course that challenges you mentally and physically; it is the place to be. 

TPC Sawgrass  (Stadium Course)

The stadium course can accommodate up to 36,000 spectators. Its 17th Island Hole is among the most renowned in the world. It is currently one of the top public courses in the sunshine state. 

Camp Creek Golf Course

This Tom Fazio design course is located in Panama City Beach, FL. The course is a mix of long and short holes with wide fairways. It was hewn out of thick trees, which block the wind and separate the holes. 

Hammock Beach Resort (Ocean Course)

The Jack Nicklaus designed course in Palm Coast, FL has six holes that board the Atlantic Ocean. It is the most of any golf course in the state. The course has been host to two PGA Championship Tour events. 

Doral Golf Resort & Spa (Blue Monster)

The Dick Wilson-designed the course that hosted the Doral Open on the PGA Tour from 1962 up to 2006. Since 2007, the course has been host to the WGC-Cadillac Championship. 

International Golf Club

This course is off the beaten path, but it is worth the effort. If not for the course, you can go there for the wildlife. The course has water on almost every hole, which makes it quite tough.

LPGA International (Hills Course)

The Hills offers breathtaking views on every hole. If you want to succeed on this course, you will need to make precise shots through narrow corridors. 

Grand Cypress (New Course)

The Jack Nicklaus designed course pays homage to the Old Course at St. Andrews. You do not have to worry about water hazards on this course. However, you do have to be mindful of the 150 pot bunkers. 

Orange County National, Panther Lake 

The course is an opportunity for you to enjoy nature without a home or any developments in site. It is made out of wetlands and lakes and rolling meadows. 

Streamsong Red 

The course is relatively new, having opened in 2012. If you are an avid golfer, this course should be on your bucket list. The course is built on a land that was previously used for phosphate mining. 

Rocky Point Golf Course

Since the course was taken over by the city in 2003, it has seen some major upgrades to become a leading fun course in the state. 

The Claw At USF

If you want to see some of the wildlife in Florida while you play golf, you should visit The Claw. The course is the home of the USF Men’s Golf Team. It does feature a few holes that require some tight shots. 

Pebble Creek Golf Club

The course is located off Bruce B. Downs Blvd in New Tampa. The tees and greens at this course were recently rebuilt with Champion Bermuda grass. 

The Eagles Golf Club

The club has two great courses; the Forest course and the Lakes course. Both courses have been built into the Florida wildlife and scenery. 

Westchase Golf Club 

The course is located on a former wetland and reserve. The course has the benefit of being at a convenient location. It is a short drive from downtown. It is a great place to relax during the weekend.

Avila Golf and Country Club

The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus to be both challenging and member-friendly. There is also a mansion style clubhouse, which is a great way for you to relax after each round of golf. 

Cheval Golf & Country Club

The course is just a 20-minute drive north of downtown. The course’s location in a gated neighborhood gives a private feel to golfers. 

Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club

You will get to enjoy two golf courses that remind you of North Carolina. It is located in the hilly area of Tampa Bay, which means that you can expect a lot of change in elevation when playing golf. 

Copperhead Course At Innisbrook

The course is among the favorite stops of the PGA Tour. The course is quite challenging even to the most seasoned golfers. 

PGA Village (Dye)

The course, which was designed by Pete Dye, is the most challenging of all courses at the PGA Village. However, it also happens to be the most fun.

It is the club’s signature course. Up to this day, the course is considered a masterpiece of Jack Nicklaus. It is one of the three courses designed by the Jack Nicklaus family. 

Martin Downs Golf Club

The course exudes quiet and tranquility. Its close location to the ocean makes it a breezy place to play each time. 

Sailfish Point 

Wind and water make playing at this course quite a challenge. Three water bodies surround the course, originally designed by Nicklaus in 1981. Members claim that each time you visit feels like the first time at this course.
