The Rule of Thirds

It is amongst the most common composition techniques used by both experts and amateurs. A properly composed photo uses this rule to crate interest and depth, helping to create balance between the subject and the background.

Understanding the rule of Thirds

The rule is a useful way to create great composition. It dictates that photos be split into nine equal segments. The important features in the frame have to intersect within these lines. However, keep in mind that this rule will not always work for all situations of photography.

Using the rule of Third

This rule is a great way to make ordinary photos look interesting. Instead of having the subject at the center, moving them to the side adds some depth to the image. When taking a photo of someone, always try to have them to the side of the photo. Additionally, ensure they are facing towards the photo’s center and not outward.
