How to Use Google Voice?  GoogleVoice 18 Tips

One of the best features from Google is Google Voice. It is a feature that allows users to have one number from where their clients, colleagues, and friends can always reach them. Google Voice is full of useful features that you may not even be aware exist. Tony Guo (http://www.linkedin.com/in/tyguo/) has prepared a few tips to help you make good use of Google voice.

1.    Use Google Voice to Ring Multiple Phones

Although you may not be aware, Google Voice can be used to ring multiple numbers that you use. All you need to do is add them so that every time someone calls you on any phone, it rings via Google voice. You can also customize it so that some phones do not ring during certain hours.

2.    Send Texts

To use Google voice to send texts, you simply go to Google voice, click ‘Text,’ and enter the email or the number of the recipient. If you send all the texts through your Gmail account, it helps to keep all the correspondence in one place. Besides that, it saves you the cost of sending texts.

3.    Share Voicemails via Email

Google Voice has a feature that allows you to send voice messages that you receive from your friends to other people via email. You can use this feature to send funny voice clips with your friends or use it to send marketing audio clips to your clients.

4.    You Can Screen Calls

When you receive calls from unknown numbers, you can listen to the messages they send to you, but they will not be able to listen to you. It is a great privacy feature for avoiding people you do not like.

5.    Read your Voicemails

Google voice allows you to transcript audio clips that people send you. The feature is a great way for you to transcribe audio that you receive from various sources.

6.    Customize the Voicemail Greeting

If you are not around, a voicemail greeting can be a great way to connect with potential clients. Ensure that you make maximum use of the voicemail greeting feature to increase the chances of interactions.

7.    Record You Calls

One of the great features of Google Voice is that it allows you to record calls that you hold with people. When the call is over, you can then review it and analyze it.

8.    Use it For Conference Calls

If you are a small business trying to make sense of your small business, you may need to hold conference calls occasionally. Google Voice has a convenient conference call feature that can host up to four parties at a go.

9.    Use it to Make Cheap International Calls

Google Voice is a great way to cut the cost of international calls. Google voice allows you to reach out to potential clients and friends internationally at a low rate and with a high degree of clarity.

10.    Use the Skype Caller ID

The engineers at Google have worked hard to ensure that those you call can always see your Skype Caller ID instead of the number. It thus reduces the chances that your Google Voice call will be rejected.

11.    Use GPS Location to Determine Which Phone rings

When you can set up calls by time, not everyone works on a fixed schedule. Instead, you can set your phone to rings depending on where you are. Thus, if you are at the office, Google Voice will not ring for your office number.

12.    Enable the ‘Do Not Disturb’ Feature

With this feature enabled, all calls will go to voicemail. It is an important feature when you are trying to get something important completed.

13.    Use Voice Memos

Voice memos are a great feature of Google Voice. One cool feature about Google Voice memos is that they can be transcribed and sent to you as an email.

14.    Upgrade to an Unlimited Voice Plan

Every call carrier in the US allows you to list a few numbers that you can call without limits. Add the Google Voice number to this list, and you henceforth make calls free.

15.    Use Google Voice on Your iPhone

There was a lot of uproars when Apple blocked Google Voice. However, Google has created a web app, which is a workaround to the block. Use it to access Google Voice.

16.    Disable Double Ringing

Double ringing happens when you have Google Voice enabled, but the phone can still ring. The result is that it could cause a lot of noise in the office. You can simply disable this.

17.    Change the Notification Sound

Google Voice uses the same notification sound as your SMS app. However, you can change this in the Hangouts app setting to avoid any confusion.

18.    Use it To Make video Calls

Google Voice has a video call feature, which is a great way to sell your products to your customers. If you are trying to convince someone, nothing beats holding a video call with him or her. A video call has a level of personalization that is hard to achieve any other way.
