12 Things I hate About YouTube Trueview Ads

12 Things I hate About YouTube Trueview Ads

Various platforms have emerged over the last few years that cater to the needs of digital marketing. One of the most popular is the use of YouTube Trueview ads. However, even this platform has its demerits. Read on tips prepared by Tony Guo (http://www.linkedin.com/in/tyguo/) to find out why Trueview may not be so perfect after all.

1.    There is Not Guarantee of the Desired Outcome

When you post a skippable ad on YouTube, you expect that viewers will in fact watch your videos. However, you are not assured that this will actually happen. Viewers may decide that they do not want to see any of your ads no matter how well you target them. The result could be that most of your handwork ends up being a waste of your precious time.

2.    The Cost of Creating an Ad Can Be Quite High

When you decide to use Trueview, you will need to come up with great ads that users of YouTube can stop and watch. However, that cannot be possible if you only use your cellphone camera. You will need to hire expensive equipment or a company with good equipment, who can create the ad that you desire. There is no shortcut to this.

3.    There is a lot of Competition

Almost everyone else is using YouTube Trueview. Thus, for your videos to even get noticed by potential clients, it could take quite a while. If you are planning to use the platform as a small business, there are those that have loads of experience and resources to elbow you out of the way. Thus, YouTube may not be so suitable after all if you cannot create competitive ads.

4.    The Built-In Analytics are Too Basic

Although YouTube does allow users of Trueview to analyze the data, it is far too basic. The result is that you may not get the insight you need to plan future campaigns. Data is an essential part of any ad campaign and YouTube is just not helpful enough. In short, you may not be able to optimize your ROI because of the limited amount of data.

5.    It is Not Great for Brand Recognition

YouTube prohibits the use of a company’s log on videos that appear on YouTube. Thus, if you are a relatively obscure brand, you will still need to use other types of platforms to grow the recognition of your brand. It is an arduous process and Trueview does not appear to be of much help in this area. It is among the reasons why the advertising platform is so loathsome.

6.    There is No Click to Action

On Trueview, the video ads that appear will still require the advertiser to take action and go to your site by typing the address of your site. Since the ad platform does not allow you to redirect viewers to your landing page, it reduces the chances of successful conversions a lot. It is among the reasons why you may want to think twice about using Trueview.

7.    Customer Service is Lacking

On YouTube, personalized support does not exist. The reason for this is that, there are simply too many people to make that feasible. The result is that if you run into any headwinds, you will need to come with a solution by your own. It can be quite disheartening especially if you are a small company who advertising budget makes up for a huge chunk of their costs.

8.    Your Account Could Be Shut down Without Warning

It is an issue that has affected quite a number of people in the past. YouTube could decide to shut down your account due to a bug in the system or just because you failed to adhere to the numerous strict guidelines. As you wait YouTube to restore your account, you competitors could have taken off and left you with nothing.

9.    Video Streaming Can Be Slow

For the best results, you would want to target your videos during times when traffic is high. However, that presents a unique problem. That period is also the time during which the network is almost as its capacity. The result is that streaming speeds can be quite low. The result is that your message may not reach viewers as flawlessly as you would have expected.

10.    There is No Guarantee

You can invest up to $10,000 and only end up making ten conversions. The process is so complex that it may not be worth it if you are a small upcoming business. Thus, for a business that does not have a huge pool of resources, it would be wise to invest money in other forms of online advertising.

11.    Costs Keep rising

The popularity of YouTube continues to rise every day. The reason for this is that the platform has continued to become quite popular. What you may have paid a few months ago may be overly different from what you have to pay for the same amount of views.

12.    They May Not Always Appear to the Right People

When you use certain keywords to target ads at people, there is no guarantee that those keywords are the ones that your target audience uses. The result is that you could end up paying for ad views that are irrelevant to the viewers.
